Welcome to the 2013 Third Global Urban Environmental Accords Summit

 The 2013 Third Global Urban Environmental Accords (UEA) Summit will run parallel to the 57th Annual Sister Cities Conference connected by San Antonio's sister city relationship with Gwangju, Republic of Korea, home to the UEA Secretariat.

The Urban Envinornmental Accord was signed by fifty-two cities in San Francisco on June 5, 2005, on World Environment Day and was created in conjection with the United Nations Environmental Programme. Today 149 member cities from 52 countries are signatories of the UEA. These accords are a set of 21 concrete actions across seven thematic areas to achieve sustainable development at the city level. The key issues addresssed include energy, waste reduction, urban design, biodiversity, sustainable transport, environmental health, and water.

There are a limited number of full and partial scholarships available. Those receiving scholarships will have their conference registration fee waived. We are sorry, but there is no funding available for travel, food or other travel expenses. Scholarships will be awarded to individuals in financial need who can make an important contribution by attending the conference. That contribution may be to the conference community, or your home community. Preference is given to registered UEA signatories. Applicants are to submit their scholarship application no later than Saturday, June 1, 2013.
