Getting Around San Antonio


The San Antonio International Airport is approximately 8.5 miles from the downtown business district with a travel time of approximately 15 minutes by car. Click here for a variety of ground transportation options.

Shuttle Service - Shuttle service to the downtown area is $18 one-way or $32 round-trip; Northwest Area (near SeaWorld) or JW Marriott is approximately $39 one-way or $60 round trip; Westin La Cantera approximately $26 one-way or $42 round-trip.  Look for the Shuttle Service kiosks in both terminals near baggage claim or book your trip in advance and get a discount - click here.

Taxi rides  - Traveling with a friend - two to six ride for the price of one. Approximate fares, not including tips, to the downtown business district from the airport range from $24 - $26; Northwest Area (near SeaWorld) $39-$41; Westin La Cantera Resort or JW Marriott $33-$35.


Streetcar - If you're in town for a few days and want to take advantage of the Streetcar, your best deal is to buy a One Day Pass for $4.00.   Order your pass online or stop by the Downtown Information Center or one of the outlet centers. When you get in town, pick up a streetcar brochure in your hotel lobby.  The two streetcar routes connect you to the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.

River Taxi - The River Taxi stops at 39 locations on the River Walk. Taxi - Travel within the downtown area, there is a minimum charge of $5. Two - six people ride for the price of one.

The Sightseer Special Bus - The Sightseer Special (Bus 7)  runs daily between the city's favorite sites. You can travel to them all for one price. Locations visited by the Sightseer Special include: River Walk Streetcar Station, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Alamo, San Antonio Museum of Art, Japanese Tea Garden, Brackenridge Park, San Antonio Zoo, Trinity University, University of Incarnate Word, Witte Museum and San Antonio Botanical Garden.

San Antonio B-Cycle Bike Share System: Convenient spots throughout downtown and south along the Mission Reach of the San Antonio River, B-Cycle is Texas's first bike-share system and a green alternative to traditional travel. Day visitors can interface the system in English and Spanish and purchase a 24-hour pass checked out daily between 5 am and 11 pm. Return bikes to any B-cycle station any time.
